In conjunction with National Farmers’ Market Week, Farm Credit East is announcing its recent awarding of $33,850 in small grants to 100 farmers’ markets across the Northeast. 

Farm Credit East, the Northeast’s largest agricultural lender, recently awarded $55,500 in higher education scholarships to 33 student recipients. Farm Credit East’s scholarship program supports students with diverse career aspirations in agriculture, commercial fishing, forest products and related fields from across the association’s seven-state territory, including six diversity candidate recipients.

Farm Credit’s FarmStart, a unique program that invests working capital in Northeast agriculture, commercial fishing and forest products ventures showing promise of success, recently announced it has invested more than $1 million in beginning Maine agriculture and fishing businesses since 2014.
